Das Unternehmen Schnizler

Together with his partner, Jakob Weber, Eugen Schnizler founded a company in Wannweil near Reutlingen in 1923 which exclusively produced baby clothes. Already in 1928, after the partners Schnizler and Weber had parted company, the manufacture was relocated to the newly built factory in Reutlingen. In 1935 a further spatial expansion became necessary in order to meet the increasing development in production and sales.

On 15 January 1945 the end of the successful company seemed to have come. During an air raid on Reutlingen not only the factory was completely destroyed, but also the house of the Schnizler family. Except for the youngest daughter, who was not at home, all members of the Schnizler family lost their lives.

Upon his return from war, Gerhard Epp, the son-in-law of the founder of the company, led the rebuilding of the knitwear factory which had no manufacturing rooms any more. The machines had been wrecked by bombs, there was no material and workers had to be found again first.

The rebuilt factory building was completed in 1949  a new time of manufacturing and setting up a business could begin. Due to consistent quality, product development and customer proximity, the company Schnizler was able to maintain one of the top positions in this line of business in Germany.
